Thousands of municipality workers to get pay rise soon

The interior ministry has instructed the General Directorate of Civil Service summoning it to grant the contractual garbage collectors across the country the same allowances given o their colleagues backdated to January 2008.

• More than 16 thousand workers will benefit from this allowance, noting that their salary doesn’t exceed 16 thousand Algerian dinars per month. This measure will increase it to reach 24 Thousand Dinars per month.
• The chairman of the municipality workers general union Azeddine Hellassa has indicated yesterday in a press conference that that the meeting that brought together last Thursday representatives from the ministry, his union and the Secretary General of the “SNAPAP”, was an opportunity to discuss the socio- professional grievances raised by the municipality workers.
• He also asserted that the interior ministry has issued an instruction, which is currently, at the level of the finance ministry for approval, concerning the revision of the organizational chart of the security agents at the municipalities.
• They will benefit from an allowance backdated to January 2008 which will have a direct effect on their salaries estimated at some 1 million Algerian Dinars in some cases.
