Tlemcen Capital of Islamic Culture: Forum on Women in Tlemcen

Tlemcen-National Forum on « Women in the capital Tlemcen » starts here on Tuesday under the supervision of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Abu Abdellah Ghoulam Allah in the presence of the Qatari Minister of Islamic Affairs Gheith Bin Mubarek Al Kuwari.

The opening of the two days forum noticed the presence of a large number of women representing all segments of society, as well as researchers and professors from various Algerian universities.

“Women who have taken famous positions in the history in political, social and scientific areas deserve a pause of reflection in order to draw ideas and attitudes that will strengthen their position and contribute effectively to the construction and decision-making”, Ghoulam Allah said.

“President Bouteflika aimed to strengthen women’s position in all the state’s institutions. We do not want to decorate councils with women; we want them to contribute effectively in guiding positively the current and future generations”, he added.

The event includes lectures about several themes on “Women and Power”, “Women in Sufi Discourse”, “Women of Telmcen and Economic Activity” and “Women and mentalities and traditions”.
