Toys cause loss of sight in Algeria
Tens of children were taken to hospital on Sunday after being wounded by gun and knife toys while other suffered from food poisoning after eating sausages sold on the street.

Head of the National Institution for Health Promotion and Research Development Professor Mustapha Khyati said some toys sold in Algeria are banned in many European countries and even Arab ones. “They cause dangerous problems on children’s health.”

He said a number of children lost they eyes because of gun toys with plastic bullets of high effect. Some plastic knife toys can cause injures among children.

“Many toys sold in the market this year contain harmful chemical products while there is no surveillance. Parents are encouraging their children to violence by buying those guns for them,” he added.

According to a study conducted by the institution, dangerous toys are behind 13 percent of loss of sight among children in Algeria.
