Trade Ministry concealed 200 thousand faulty gas-fired heaters now on sale in Algerian market
The Trade ministerial department has declined to submit to close examination and expertise about 50 thousand gas-fired central heaters barred from entering the Algerian market prompting the representatives of the national consumers’ associations to accuse the relevant ministry of concealing the existence of over 200 thousand faulty gas-heaters now available for sale in various parts of the national territory.
Mr Hadj Tahar Boulenouar told Echorouk that a large number of these dangerous gas-fired heaters were now in Algerian households after being purchased with no prior examination to ascertain their total reliability by licensed qualified service agents.
This brinkmanship situation brought about by deficient gas-heaters has led to many fatalities from suffocation in many homes in several parts of Algeria over the past few months, Mr Boulenouar added.
He further said that this situation was unacceptable and couldn’t be condoned as innocent citizens pass away because of these faulty products which are allowed to enter the national market at will mostly from Asian countries with on focus China, stressing that the relevant authorities should open a speedy investigation and take the necessary steps to check the foreign “dumping” of fake products in Algeria
