Trial of two terrorists involved in the attempted blowing up of the Algiers – El Affroun fast train
The penal court of Blida is to try on the 23rd of this month two terrorists A. Mohamed and B. Abdelkader accused of having joined a terrorist group which sowed terror among the residents of Khazrouna in Blida province and which was planning to destroy with the use of explosives public property.
- The elements of the national Police and the Gendarmerie of the province of Blida arrested in April 2010 one of two defendants in the Beni Merad railway station.
- He was then in possession of several chips of the 3 mobile telephone operators present in Algeria.
- These phone chips contained the recording of numerous pictures and videos of the itineraries of fast and ordinary trains crossing daily the province of Blida.
- The pictures were taken in the railway stations of Beni Merad, Khazrouna and Mouzaia.
- These pictures which were meant to be used for terrorism purposes were taken by the arrested terrorist from the top of a nearby building in the Khazrouna district in Blida province.
- The defendant told the investigators that he had taken these pictures and videos on the orders of his colleague named Bourdjem Abdelkader, a terrorist who was also rounded up shortly afterwards by security forces.
- The two arrested terrorists said that they had got in touch with the GSPC terrorist organization in the region with the aim of perpetrating attacks on trains linking Algiers and El Affroun with the use of explosives.
