Tunisia duly paid for Algerian gas supplies from Hassi Messaoud
According to the outcome of a recent inquiry conducted by the relevant security services, it was clearly established that contrary to previous unconfirmed reports, Tunisia has duly paid for Algerian natural gas deliveries funneled from HassiMessaoud in Southern Algeria.
The findings of the recent investigation proved that the previous allegations purporting that Tunisia had secured the Algerian natural supplies without paying for the required customs’ taxes and that big amounts of money had been squanderedas a result were mendacious.
The inquiry showed that all these gas deliveries funneled to Tunisia had gone through the proper customs’ control and supervision on the Algerian side of the border.
National Gendarmerie sources told Echorouk that in line with the findings of the inquiry, no malpractice was discovered and the payments made by Tunisia’s gas and electricity company for these natural gas supplies were in keeping with all the regulations in force.
In a strong reaction, the Algerian customs’ Union firmly denounced the baseless allegations of malpractice and embezzlement spread by certain malevolent circles with the covert aim of tarnishing, as it put it, the brand – image of the law – abiding Algerian customs’ services.
