Tunisian nationals to organize peaceful marches in the Algerian capital
One of the Tunisian nationals based in Algeria has revealed that preparations are underway to stage peaceful rallies towards the Tunisian embassy in Algiers as well as the Consulates of this country in Annaba and Tebessa (eastern Algeria).
- In a declaration to Echourok, M Salim Hadji has indicated that the Tunisian regime’s opponent and former secretary General of the Progressive Democratic Party Nadjib Chabi has yesterday called on the Tunisian nationals across the world, to stage peaceful rallies before the Tunisian diplomatic representations to denounce what he branded as police oppression against innocent and peaceful Tunisians.
- He has further indicated that the protesters will raise one and single slogan as from tomorrow Sunday all over the Tunisian cities, villages and even abroad demanding the departure of the president Zine Al Abiddine Ben Ali from power and the creation of a national salvation government ahead of the organization of anticipated presidential elections in the upcoming three months.
- As to the decision made by the Tunisian authorities to close the terrestrial borders with Algeria, Salim Hadji has noted that the Tunisian nationals in Algeria were also barred from returning to their home country in order to the take part to the popular uprising that started in the city of Sid Bouzid.
- Echourok has tried to get in touch with the Tunisian consulate in Annaba to verify the news but the official has declined to give any further details, arguing that the consulate was closed and consul General has departed since more than a week.
