Tunisian tourism: Number of Algerian tourists dropped to the half due to revolution

Tunisian delegation which represented the Tunisian Office of National Tourism in Algeria, headed by Bassem Ortani, organized on Wednesday a press conference at Eden Airport Hotel in Oran, western Algeria, on the occasion of the Tunisian Tourism Days that is held currently in Oran city.

Tunisian delegation highlighted the importance of the Algerian clients and travel agencies in Oran, by offering gifts as a token gratitude, noting that whatever the ruling party in Tunisia platoon or its ideological background, it will not overdo in tourism, because it is the only nerve to Tunisia’s economy, even though the subject raised a large controversy about who to meet the demands of foreign tourists.

“Revolution had a significant impact in the fall of tourism in Tunisia, which is the only source of income for the country. Ministry of Tourism is holding bilateral agreements and days of tourism to recover its position gradually. Tunisia was receiving more than one million tourists before the revolution, now the number has dropped to half later, but currently it reached 9000 tourists, not to mention attracting celebrities from the rest of the world, due to the huge efforts the state is making in the tourism sector through employing 400.000 workers, as this step has come to establish days in Oran tourism with the aim of creating a common tourist product.

Same delegation also took advantage of the opportunity, and representative of the travel agency in Oran is working with Tunis air, to put the problem of programming trips in terms of timing and number, calling for adjusting some of the processes to facilitate trips to customers.
