Public offices’ independent unions yesterday called the new Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia to open dialogue to discuss their professional and social claims and called him to respect his commitments while campaigning for the increase of the salaries.

He called on the Prime Minister to fulfill his promise when he declared during his campaign trail “I call for the increase of the employees’ wages”.
  • He went on saying that the social front is boiling adding “The employees in the education sector will not stand still in front of a weak purchasing power”.
  • For his part, the secondary school union’s general secretary, Meziane Meriane declared “we are against the strike, but the authorities’ pressures force us to do so”.. “ we want to solve problems and if there is a deadlock the street is the last resort, because authorities do not react to letters nor strikes”.
