Talking yesterday in a press conference, the head of the communication cell at the national gendarmerie colonel Ayoub Abderrehmane, announced the increase of the number of protection cells created in 2004 scattered in major cities like Algiers, Oran and Annaba.

These services that comprise psychologists take part in the investigations conducted by the security forces when dealing with minors involved in criminal acts or simply those who found themselves victims of such acts.

One of the major tasks of these cells consists in rehabilitating children in their social milieu thanks to raising awareness actions alongside their parents.

According to colonel Ayoub, most of the children arrested by the security forces present fake identities to avoid being brought back to their families.
