Unknown people sign fake letter to ban bank loans ordered by Sellal
Mohamed Loukal, CEO of Algeria's Exterior Bank

CEO of Algeria’s Exterior Bank filled a lawsuit against an unknown person for imitating his signature and sending fake letter in his name to subsidies.

The letter asked the bank’s agencies to stop working upon instructions from Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal relating to banking accounts opening and entrepreneurship loans.

“The letter which was sent on April 21st is baseless. There are some people who want to shake the stability of the biggest bank in Algeria,” Mohamed Loukal told Echorouk on Monday.

He added that the letter said the bank stopped granting new loans for young people who want to create their own companies.

“Unknown persons launched a strong campaign against the bank using fake letters and spreading misleading facts. They scanned signatures of senior officials at the bank including CEO and some of his deputies.”

Investigations show that the “unknown persons” used the bank’s old documents which deal with its capital raise to 74 billion DZ. Yet, the fake letter says the capital is estimated at 24.5 billion DZ.
