Upheavals caused killing and injuries in southern city of Algeria
Heavy property damage was caused by the calshes.

Violent clashes broke out over the last two days in the region of “Berriane”, Ghardia (western Algeria ) between two groups of young people causing heavy property damage and some 20 injured, while a young man succumbed to bullet shot by a policeman.According to the interior ministry sources, the clashes started early Friday morning in which, houses, cars and stores were burnt to ashes. Some of the “vandals” were wearing masks, the sources added.

 

Corroborating sources revealed that first skirmishes started last Thursday, when two groups exchanged stones’ throws between each other and burnt two buses at the northern and southern entrances of the town. In the heat of the events, a group of young men attempted to burst in a house, forcing a policeman living nearby to use his arm in a move to stop them, according to him. But one the bullets killed a young man.

 

The inhabitants immediately after, called on the military troops to intervene in order to stop control the situation and “cool down tensions”. An inquiry was opened to probe on the real causes behind these events as well as to unveil the identities of the people responsible of these acts of violence.
