US Department of State highlights Algeria's huge efforts in fight against drugs
WASHINGTON- The U.S. Department of State highlighted the huge efforts of Algerian Government in the fight against drugs, especially through the five-year strategy against this scourge.
In its 2010 International Narcotics Control Strategy Report (INCSR), published Thursday, the U.S Department of State examined the national policies against drugs of nearly 200 countries.
In this respect, it noted that the Algerian Government “is actively engaged” in addressing this scourge through the increase of budgets allocated to education, drug prevention, treatment and suppression, though the security forces focus efforts on combating terrorism.
“Algeria is primarily transit country for drug trafficking into Europe (…), Most of drugs entering Algeria, such as cannabis, came from Morocco,” the report said.
