Vaccination campaign against swine flu to cover 20 million people in Algeria
The Minister of Hleath Said Barkat was the first to take the shot officially launched the campaign

Algerian government announce here on Wednesday the launch of a vaccination campaign to cover 20 million people against swine flu, after testing the safety of the vaccine imported from Canada. 

  • The Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Said Barkat was the first to take the shot officially launched the campaign.
  • Said Barkat said ; «The vaccine is safe and approved by the World Health Organization, and has been used in more than 30 countries, including Canada ».
  • The first people to take the shot are medical staff, pregnant women, elders, and children. The rest of the popuation are to take it later, with 8.000 clinics across the country involved.
  • The Algerian Health Ministry announced that the spread of A/H1N1 virus picked up considerably since November 22, with the death toll at 42 out of 687 confirmed cases.
