Vehicles “Made in Algeria” Destined To Export As From Early 2018
From the SMEs to the large national firms, hundreds of Algerian producers (over 350) will get together once again this year at the Algerian production fair, from 21 to 27 December 2016 at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Hall, east of Algiers, around six main sectors of activity to showcase new locally-made products in order to fulfill the increasing needs of the Algerian consumers and to clear the way for the projected launch of Algerian exports to Africa and elsewhere in the world.
This major national trading event is seen as a showcase for participating national public and private companies to demonstrate the growing role they intend to play in the spurring of the economic development process of Algeria at a time when the country is grappling with financial constraints due to the steady decline in oil prices on the world market.
Several sectors of activity will be highlighted during this timely national production fair including: Agro-food and packaging, the mechanical, metallurgical and steel industries, the chemical and petrochemical industries, financial services, car manufacturing as well as electrical, electronic and household appliances industries.
The event will be officially inaugurated on Wednesday by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and a host of government members as a token of encouragement on the part of the higher authorities to national producers who are urged to step up efforts so as to upgrade the Algeria-made products in various fields of endeavor.
The Government’s ultimate objective is to ensure the high-quality and reliability of the Algeria-made products and make them liable for exports notably towards Africa at highly-competitive prices compared to the ones displayed by European countries.
Speaking to “Echorouk”, several business leaders including the Vice President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Ryad Amor explained that this trading exhibition will be an opportunity to introduce high-grade Algerian-made products notably in the foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, plastics, building materials and electronics sectors as well as to showcase future cars “Made in Algeria”.
The latter, he said, are slated to enter the foreign market as from the beginning of the year 2018, stressing that these vehicles, due to be manufactured in Algeria itself, will be destined primarily to the African market.
