War veterans’ minister criticizes MPs over a law incriminating French colonialism

The Algeria war veterans’ Minister Mohammed Cherif Abbas has vehemently criticized the attitude of the Algerian parliament members concerning their late denunciation move to denounce the French colonialism in Algeria.

 

He has indicated that the attempt is senseless as it comes five years after the French parliament’s endorsement of a law glorifying colonialism.

 

In a declaration too Echourok, the minister has asserted that the initiators of the law should have discussed the place and time well before launching the initiative that he considers useless because it came too late.

 

Mohamed Cherif Abbas has indicated that the Algerian parliamentarians’ initiative comes as a response to the French parliament’s endorsement and that his ministry has nothing to do with the issue.

 

The minister’s revelation comes in the eve of the 56th anniversary of the Algerian revolutionary war.

 

As to the issue of the frozen files of war veterans’ certificates, the minister has indicated that the decision was made by the ministry following a request from the organization war veterans’ organization that questioned the validity of some 2000 of certificates.
