We can beat Senegal: Algerian coach says
Algerian national coach Rabah Saadane

“Echourouk” special envoy to Dakar met the Algerian national coach Rabah Saadane who accepted to give an interview in which he talked bout the match opposing his tema to the Senegalese side.

  • Q: Are the “Fenecs” ready for the the match?
  • A: Definitely yes, we have carefully prepared this match in Paris where we studied our opponent’s weak and strong points , we will try to be on top technically and physically the D  day.
  • Q: Do you have enough information on your opposite side?
  • A: We have in our possession all the matches played by Senegal during the last African cup in Ghana, that will be the basis on which we will build our strategy. We can estimate that we have enough data.
  • Q: But the Senegalese team has changed a lot?
  • A:  we are aware of that, but the new coach, Lyamine N’Dyaye kept the core of the team that took part in the last African cup which means that we will almost face the same team.
  • Q: do you think Algeria is strong enough to beat Senegal?
  • A: I staunchly believe that we have an excellent team, if we play with our all potentialities I can assert hat we will create a big surprise today in Dakar.
  • Q: what do you mean by “all potentialities” ?
  • A: everybody knows that some players never played in Africa before, for instance Hamdani, Djebbour, Bouaaza and others posses great physical and technical abilities, but never played on African pitches before and I hope they adapt quickly to the situation, because playing in Dakar has nothing to do with Europe or even Algeria.
  • Q: don’t you think that the absence three major players like Diawara,Nyang and Baye will be beneficial to the Algerian squad?
  • A: I’ve warned the players of such reactions, cause the absence of these players will open the door to others who will do their best to emerge in the Senegalese squad, this country has more than 150 players in Europe. As I’m concerned I don’t think that the absence of the players you mentioned will be an advantage for us.
  • Q: You are going to play in Dakar before thousands of fans, don’t you fear pressure?
  • A: I think that the pressure will be on the other side. The Senegalese squad is summoned to retrieve happiness to millions after Ghana’s downfall, but this doesn’t mean that I didn’t talk to my players about the circumstances of the match and I hope they’ll get in with high spirits.
  • Q: How is the players’ state of mind?
  • A: Everybody is aware of the importance of a victory in Dakar and determined to refurbish the image of the Algeria football dimmed over the last years.
  • Q: you seem very optimistic?
  • A: Either be it or stay in Algeria, because it is unthinkable to play the first match with a low spirit, and we will come back home with a good result with god’s will.
