Wedding ceremonies kill many in Algeria

Two bullets shot Monday by a policeman in a hotel at a wedding ceremony sparked panic among the guests.

• Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case in this kind of ceremonies, since estimates reveal that nearly 12 people were killed and 67 others injured in the same circumstances transforming moments of joy to sadness and deep sorrows.
• Despite firm security measures imposed by the local authorities who force masters of ceremonies not to use fire arms in return of the permit, many security agents and self defence ones infringe laws and some of them were sued for their acts.
• Investigations revealed that most of the cases occur during ceremonies where the married man is one of the security corps and by inviting his colleagues they try to express their joy through the use of their firearms.
