Jamaica’s triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt was among six Beijing gold medalists short listed for the 2008 World Athlete. The International Association of Athletics said.

•  Men’s category consists of Bolt who won the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4 times 100 meters relay, Cuba’s 110 meters hurdles champion Dayron Robles and Olympic long-distance double winner Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia.
• Fellow Ethiopian 5.000 and 10.000 meters champion Tirunesh Dibaba, 800 meters gold medalist and Golden League winner Pamela Jelimo of Kenya and Russian Pole Vault champion and world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva were chosen for women’s category.
• The finalists were selected following a poll of internet fans and the IAA family consisting of IAA officials, member federations, ambassadors, leading athletes and selected members of the International press.
• The winner will be announced during the 2008 World Athletics Gala in Monaco on November 23.
