Details of the scandal begun when the Director of SAIDAL group tried to hide the truth saying “Algeria paid a big price in order to import bird flu vaccine from a foreign international laboratory, despite it was manufactured in Algeria, and the Ministry of Health preferred to export it despite it was manufactured in our country”.

SAIDAL group encountered many difficulties at the beginning of the bird flu spread, because the government refused to grant it licence to produce the vaccine for the first time, because foreign bodies were behind that, as it was confirmed later on. The Government imported a small amount of vaccine in order to face the disaster; the first quantity was estimated at two millions and 500.000 vaccine packs, then a second acquired in 2006 despite SAIDAL group was granted licence to produce the same vaccine in Algeria.
