Wikileaks: “Washington has paid France in exchange for hosting on French soil Algerians detained in Guantanamo
The American Website “Wikileaks” has revealed in its latest documents classified “top secret” drawn from the archives of the US intelligence services that the Elysée has negotiated with the White House the hosting on French soil of several Algerians held in Guantanamo prison in return for large sums of money.
- The move, says Wikileaks, was meant to improve relations between Washington and Paris after a period of stagnation and to allow the French government to question these former Guantanamo detainees by exploiting any information driven from their confessions.
- The information given by the former Guantanamo inmates was used by the French authorities for security and diplomatic purposes notably regarding the handling of the vexed file of the Sahel region.
- It should be noted that 806 diplomatic news files, classified as secret or confidential about Algeria, have been revealed in the Wikileaks documents.
