Wild fires ravaged huge parcels of forest in Algeria
National gendarmerie sources revealed that most of the wild fires broke out in 12 central in eastern cities of the country last week were put under control.

While citizens’ revelations said that some farmers were forced to fight the blazes on their own; estimated released by the national gendarmerie reveal that the city of Tizi Ouzou was the most ravaged one as fires lasted till Thursday.

In the region of Blida (40 Km from Algiers) 12 fires were recorded damaging some 541 hectares of forests, most of them were extinguished. Several other damage were caused by fires in Bejaia, Boumerdes and skikda .

Witnesses declared that in some regions firemen found tremendous difficulties to extinguish the blazes due to their importance, while some citizens were forced to use their own means to fight the fires.
