World Cup 2014 Draw: Algeria Desert Warriors in Pot 2
What is happening in the corridors of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is strange, as it decided on Tuesday evening that the final distribution of the 32 teams that are qualified to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, will not be known before the draw, so it distributed the teams arbitrarily in four pots and the Algerian team was placed in the second pot, ahead of the result of the colored pellets on Friday evening (17:00 h) in Costa do Sauipe neighboring suburb of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
Algeria was placed in the second Pot next to Chile, Ecuador, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, and Cameroon. While there is still uncertainty for both French and Russian teams who are placed – theoretically – the fourth pot, which contains Nine teams, which imposes a separation between the French cock and Russian bear ahead of the Final Draw.
French wish to remain in the fourth Pot rather than the second, so as to avoid the collision with Latin-American teams Brazil – Argentina – Colombia and Uruguay.
Algeria Desert Warriors’ presence in the second pot with France or Russia (as the Final Draw will show), would help Bougherra’s teammates to avoid confronting the Russians or the French.
FIFA gave a great importance to the geographical factor, with the exception of teams that exist as headers for groups in order to ensure the best combination of teams compared to the World Cup South Africa in 2010.
