Youcef Yousfi set to sort out his predecessor's faulty handling of hydrocarbons' sector
The new Energy and Mines Minister, Youcef Yousfi, is to chair today a broad – based meeting with the top managers of the oil and gas group Sonatrach and its major subsidiaries as well as those in charge of managing the electricity and gas company Sonelgaz with the aim of clearing the air and straightening out the lackluster situation now besetting the national hydrocarbon's sector in the light of the recent money – embezzlement scandal which jolted Sonatrach.
-
Youcef Yousfi is now intent on scanning thoroughly the management of the hydrocarbons’ sector by his sacked predecessor Chakib Khelil whose past record at the helm of the energy and mines sector is now seriously called into question on account of the gross lapses and drifts which were notably behind the blameworthy money-reeking “mish-mash” engineered behind the scenes by several senior managers of Sonatrach and some of its subsidiaries.

In a first move to preclude any future shady practices, the new energy and mines Ministrer, Youcef Yousfi, has ordered a total freeze on all dubious oil and gas contracts concluded by Sonatrach and its subsidiaries with national and foreign partners in order to diligently sort out the situation after an in – depth and exhaustive investigation on the matter.
