Zineddine Zidan to Echourok : I dream of coaching the Greens one day

Although “sequestrated” in his room at the “Sofitel” hotel here in Algiers since his arrival to Algeria, the football legend Zineddine Zidane has accepted to give a wide –ranging interview yesterday morning to Echourouk where he discussed several issues in relation to the Algerian football and the land of his ancestries.

• Q: Good morning M Zidane.

• A: Good morning I’m at your total disposal but hope that the interview won’t take long because I got other commitments?

• Q: Thank you especially that you have kindly accepted to host us in your room.

• A: How do you feel after visiting Algeria for the third time?
•  
• A: I think that your estimates are wrong because I paid a visit to Algeria more than that and I still recall good memories from my ancestries’ country.

• Q: I mean three official visits?
•  
• A: The first official visit was in 2006 after an invitation from the president Abdelaziz Bouteflika and this is the second official because the one I did to the desert was private.

• Q: How do you consider your relationship with the president?
•  
• A; Excellent, he loves football and frankly I’m still moved by the historic reception I had in 2006.

• Q: How did you feel when kicked the ball for the first time in your native country?
•  
• A: Actually a strange feeling, playing before the Algerian audience yesterday at the Olympic dome is a dream comes true, though the match was friendly but it still means a lot for me.

• Q: Did you expect such a welcome at your entry on the floor?
•  
• A: I know perfectly the Algerian fans’ esteem for me; I hope that we lived up to their expectations along with my teammates during the gala.

• Q: You played versus most of the glorious Algerian players yesterday do you know some of them?

• A: I would probably surprise you if I tell you that I know most of them because I was fan of the Algerian football since my childhood.

• Q: How did you like the legend Belloumi?
•  
• A: He is a top class player and still keeps his technique intact which prove that he was an exceptional player when he was young; I admit that I have always dreamt of playing against him one day.

• Q: Apart from Belloumi, who were the players that you have recognized?
•  
• A: Moussa Saib who left his stamp with Auxerre, Tasfaout and Ferhaoui who was a great player in France during the 1980s.

• Q: How did you like the Algerian fans?
•  
• A: I have already attended the match JSM Bejaia Vs USM Alger in 2006 , at this time I liked the way the supporters were encouraging their clubs.

• Q: We heard that you are going to stay in Algeria until Thursday, do you confirm the news?
•  
• A: Yes, my stay is unlimited in time, my timetable is not limited to a match gala.
•  
• Q: Doest it mean that you are going to attend the friendly match Algeria Vs Serbia?
•  
• A: Very likely.

• Q: Have you been invited?
•  
• A: He laughs ad doesn’t comment.

• Q: Much has been said about the probability of appointing you as the new Algerian coach after the World Cup, do you conform?

• A: I haven’t received any official offer so far, but I think that I’m not qualified for this mission because I don’t have any experience in coaching.

• Q: Are you interested in training the Greens one day?
•  
• A: Taking the destiny of the Algeria squad is an honor and a dream, but that would be after five or ten years from now until I garner the required experience for that.

• Q: Do you feel relax when you come to Algeria?
•  
• A: Of course , otherwise I wouldn’t came back again; Algeria is the land of ancestors.
