War Veteran, Zohra Drif Bitat, told Echorouk in a phone conversation, that she would respond to the accusations of the War Veteran, Yacef Saadi, at the right time.

“He is responsible for his words and statements. I will not respond to him in haste, but I will respond soon, though my memoirs that were recently published by Dar Al-Shehab, contain all the facts and historical events, and when you read carefully between the lines, you will find all the answers”.

The document that was provided by Yacef Saadi as an evidence, and that was checked out by Echorouk, was a copy of the message that is handwritten and does not contain a signature; in which he said: “Dear Hassiba, you know your value in my heart, I assure you that I was not tortured, and they treated me in a good way, and I’m fine. But I’m afraid you faced the opposite, so I sent you a letter with a woman that will be accompanied by a man, who will explain to you all what is going on. If you are OK, he will present you to someone else, who will in turn, explain to you what happens, and if you want to avoid the issue of death, neglect all about the story of faith and surrender to that person, they would not torture you, and you will not be a traitor, neither you nor I. This letter should not be seen by anyone.”

Previously, Yacef Saadi said in many interviews, since years ago, that the one who betrayed the martyr “Ali La Pointe” was a woman, as he preferred not to disclose her name at the time, and said that he has the tapes that acquitted him of the charge of treason.

While Zohra Drif insisted on defending Yacef Saadi and acquitted him asserting that Godard recruited Gandriche who called La Pointe, which forced the French army to find the secret hideaway, and the group has been penetrated for two months without a notice by someone; “We were jailed in a confidential manner in the “Nadour” villa. I knew that I was there, because I noticed the door of Descartes secondary school”.

“Yacef Saadi did not know the place where La Pointe, Hassiba and the child Ammar Yassef. We went to the neighboring house, for a meeting in that evening, and it was supposed to return in the next day to our hideaway. But Yacef Saadi was ill at that night. I told Ali La Pointe from the window of the house about the news but he told us not to leave, on the grounds that he will join us with Hassiba on the next day.”

“We agreed on leaving if our fellows are arrested, because the brutal torture which may force the imprisoned to uncover the plan. We expected it to happen”.

“We left Hassiba and Ali La Pointe in a secret bunker at 3, Canton Road and we did not know that they will hide in another place at 5, Rue d’ Abdiram, and we did not know that they would go to him. I was amazed because the paratroopers did not interrogate us after arresting us in 4, Canton Road in Kasbah, on September 24, 1957, which caused me a lot of concern throughout the prison period. Godard’s war was very ugly against us, because he sought with all his strength to sow doubt among us. I understood then that he had recruited “Safi” and we have been working with the French authorities, me and Yacef Saadi for two months without knowing it.”
