1 million 800.000 Algerian civil servants get their monthly salaries ahead of time to face up to post-Ramadan hefty expenditure
In compliance with guidelines issued by the Head of Government Ahmed Ouyahia, the Public Treasury has unlocked substantial amounts of money for the benefit of about 1 million and 800.000 civil servants who thus received their salaries in advance to allow them to face up to their daily post-Ramadan expenses.
-
The decision to unlock the civil servants’ salaries a few days before the end of the month is aimed at allowing them to have enough cash available to meet their massive expenses by the end of the holy month of fasting of Ramadan.

As a matter of fact, expenses for all Algerian households were heavy this year on account of the steep hike recorded, over the past few months, in the price of foodstuffs and staple commodities on the Algerian market.

The Algerian households have also to disburse a lot of money to buy the school stationery for their children on the occasion of the start of the new academic year 2007/2008 in addition to new clothing for their offsprings with the advent, in a few days’ time, of the “Aid feast” marking the end of Ramadan.

The expenditure will also be compounded by the making of home-made cakes and biscuits on this special festive occasion.
