1347 protesters were brought before justice over vandalism
The number of individuals that appeared before the judicial authorities in the regions that witnessed unrests as of the day before yesterday, has reached 1347 including 352 minors most of them from Algiers, Oran and Annaba, high level judiciary sources have revealed.
- The troublemakers were forwarded to the public prosecutors following the reports issued by the different security forces corpses that proved their involvement in acts of vandalism, looting and thefts on public and private properties including cars showrooms, banks, factories and other official buildings.
- 180 from the communities of Babb Ezzouar ; Berraki and Bech Djerrah in Algiers were presented to the judges, while 25 others were forwarded to the public prosecutor at Al Harach on charges of vandalism on the telephone operator’s Headquarters , Nedjma.
- 53 people were forwarded to the court of Cheraga, western Algiers, and 25 others to the court of Ain Benian as well as the court of Hussein Dey that witnessed the largest number of cases. Most of the convicts were arrested in the popular compounds of Belcourt and 1st May.
- Many others are remanded in custody pending the completion of the investigations carried out by the different security forces through the screening of the video surveillance tapes set up by the local authorities in different sensitive places countrywide.
