140,000 inspected in Algeria
The National Gendarmerie forces inspected more than 140,000 people were inspected in Algiers in January-July. Of them, 496 were arrested.

This comes as part of security measures meant to foil any terrorist attempt against the second Pan-African Festival held in Algiers.

Colonel Mustapha Taibi said the Gendarmerie forces worked on ensuring the safety of the African event.

A total of 4,798 people took part in the festival. Of them, 2,570 were foreigners. All the African participants were under the responsibility of the Gendarmerie.

Most of the African participating delegations left Algeria on July 20th.

Two African participants converted into Islam one hour before they left. The first one comes from the Kingdom of Lesotho. He was given a copy of the Holy Quran in English while the second African comes from Benin. He changed his name to Moussa and came back home.
