200 Illegal Migrants Departed To European Coasts in the Second Half of Ramadan

As many as 200 illegal migrants have departed from isolated beaches in Annaba and Taref eastern provinces, towards Sardinia, Sicilia and Lumpedosa isles in Italy, in the last two weeks, well informed sources said.

The source said the illegal migrants chose the moment of the breaking of the fasting and dawn to start their voyage into the unknown.

Algerian coast guards have already arrested 98 illegal migrants, including two women, two kids and a babe, in the coasts of Annaba and Mostaghanem.

Yet, National Gendarmerie units in Taref have counted the stealing of five boat engines from El Kala fishing port. The engines are likely to be used by gangs specialized in organising illegal migration trips, detectives said.

Meanwhile, Italian coast guards arrested last week 27 illegal migrants originated from eastern provinces of Algeria, while 11 others were arrested, two days ago, near Lumpedosa isle.

The source further added that dozens of youngsters originated from Guelma, Annaba, Skikda, Constantine, Taref and Annaba are set to depart to European coasts, in the morning of Eid al-Fitr feast.
