2010 World cup/ Africa cup of Nations: “The Fennecs intent on subduing Rwanda in its home ground of Kigali”.

The players of the Algeria national squad are determined to be up to the mark next Saturday March 28th 2009 in the face of their Rwandan opponents in Kigali stadium as part of the combined qualifications for the 2010 World cup and Africa cup of Nations' competition.

  • After undertaking a good training camp under the supervision of national coach Rabah Saâdane, the Algerian players are now keen on securing a win in Kigali in order to engage in the competition in good conditions in expectation of their much-awaited confrontation against the indomitable Egyptians.
  • Reporters of “Echorouk” newspaper met with some of the Algerian players who voiced on the occasion their aspirations and expectations on the eve of the crucial Algeria / Rwanda confrontation.
  • *Matmour : “I come back with full stamina to the Algeria squad”.
  •  Striker Karim Matmour said he wanted his comeback to the national squad after a long absence to be fruitful and pledged to do his best on the pitch during the upcoming qualifier versus Rwanda.
  • *Maiza : “Our defensive line is a bulwark”.
  •  Defender Adel Maiza asserted, for his part, that the Algeria line-up should remain concentrated during the 90 minutes of play in the hope of wrenching the 3 points of victory on Rwandan soil.
  • *Haliche : “I am eager to be on the pitch with my teammates versus Rwanda”.
  • Rafik Haliche affirmed that he was waiting eagerly to take part in the Kigali game but recalled that his incorporation in the line-up would depend on the final choice to be made by national coach Rabah Saâdane.
  • *Abdeslem : ‘The players are fully conscious of the responsibility weighing on them for the decisive match versus Rwanda”.
  • For midfielder, Chérif Abdeslem, all the players of the national team are aware of the high stakes of this competition which will be, he said, most grueling as it will clear the way for a much – coveted berth in the finals of the 2010 World cup and Africa cup of Nations contest.
  • *Gaouaoui : “A victory over Rwanda in Kigali will be a good omen for the rest of the competition”.
  • The Fennecs’ goalkeeper Lounès Gaouaoui argued that a possible win in the Kigali qualifier would ramp up the chances of success of the Algeria line – up in the competition.
  • According to Lounès Gaouaoui, the “Greens” have the physical and tactical means to subdue their Rwandan opponents in Kigali itself as they are now, he stressed, fully accustomed to the “peculiar” atmosphere prevailing in African stadiums.
