25 Brands Boycott Oran Cars Exhibition due to specifications
Most of the accredited cars’ concessionaires decided to boycott the 15th Edition of Oran Cars Exhibition “Auto West”, which is considered the second most important exhibition after Algiers exhibition, on which they relied to increase the sales volume and improve their sales, through launching the year-end offers that attract customers from various cities of the country.
More than 25 brands that are well-known for European and Asian cars, and even American will not be present at Oran Cars’ Exhibition, which will be launched next Wednesday, December, 9.
In this framework four of the largest companies for the marketing of vehicles in Algeria boycott of the Oran exhibition, in the forefront SOVAC, which represents 5 brands, which are Audi, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen and Porsche, as the company was affected with the implications of the specifications and the freezing of cars at the level of ports, which introduced it in a confrontation with its customers who protested after demanding an increase in the cars’ prices which they requested because of the high costs.
Elsecom Company, which represents three well-known brands in the market, which are Ford, Suzuki, and Kia, in turn, will not participate in the exhibition, and so is the matter for Diamal Company, which represents Chevrolet and Opel, as the boycott extended to Toyota Algeria complex, which marketed three brands, which are Toyota, Daihatsu, and Subaru.
GMS Company, which is the exclusive marketer for the brands of Mercedes, Great Wall, Jeep and Ram, will not participate in turn in the exhibition, as announced by several other labels, making the boycott rate extend for more than 60% of the authorized concessionaires, and that did not happen in the history of cars’ marketing in Algeria.
The boycott was imposed by the implications of the new specifications which disturbs Algeria cars market, to the point a lot of cars’ concessionaries did not find what they sell for customers, causing a crisis of wages, and closing many of the concessionaires in Algeria.
