50 Algerians in the Belgian police grip for breaching immigration laws
According to sources from the Algerian community settled in Belgium, more than 50 Algerians have been under arrest in this European country, for nearly a month now, on charges of violation of applicable immigration laws, at a time when the latter are refusing their deportation to Algeria, in line with a number of reasons put forth by their respective lawyers at the legal Belgian institutions.
According to the same sources, they were rounded up after random inspections carried out by internal Belgian security elements at the beginning of last month in some parts of the country.
A number of the arrested people explained to their lawyers through their children, that they had been defrauded by shadowy gangs, including Belgians and Arabs of different nationalities who provided them with forged residency cards, in exchange for financial amounts exceeding 3,000 Euros per card.
This prompted their arrest on charges of possession of forged documents and use of forgery, besides the above-mentioned charges leveled against them by the Belgian security services.
