5800 people implicated in 7.000 cases arrested by security services in 11 Algerian Wilayas
The National Institute of the Criminal Evidence and Science of Crime deployed 477 experts out of 488 requests during the first four months of 2011 for the investigations by the units of the first military region in Blida, west of Algiers.
According to the outcome of the Blida military region which includes 11 wilayas, Algeria ranks first with 87 requests, including 32 positive and 48 negative, followed by Medea with 86 requests, Boumerdes (east of Algiers) and Ain Defla 57 requests, while Djelfa sent 21 requests, Chlef 36 and Bouira 41.
The same military region counted 6972 criminal cases in 11 wilayas during the four months of 2011, including 6836 cases related to assault on persons and properties and public safety, 136 crimes of fraud and national economy, resulting in the arrest of 1372 people.
According to the same outcome, the crime against people reached 61% of the total cases, involving 3044 people, while the cases of assault on properties came second with the total of 26%, the equivalent of 2716 cases mostly criminal, resulting in the arrest of 1372 people.
In a related context, the same security sources said that there is a significant and troubling rise in the number of cases affecting public morals and classified in the category of moral crimes reaching 345 cases, mainly related to rape and shameful acts in which 418 people are implicated.
