60.000 new housing units on the agenda for Algiers province
The Wali or Governor of Algiers,Mr Mohamed Kebir Adou, has announced the launching soon of an emergency program for the achievement of 60.000 brand-new housing units to be scattered across the province of Algiers.
- He indicated in this connection that such a program was slated to kick off as early as the first semester of 2012.
- Mr Mohamed Kebir Adou added that this emergency program initiated by the services of the Governorship of Algiers in conjunction with several ministerial departments would ensure the pursuit of the ongoing rehousing operations throughout the province of Algiers.
- The Governor of Algiers further asserted that the Governorship services had managed to make available real estate lands extending over 612 hectares for the construction of these 60.000 state-subsidized new housing units while calling on those eligible citizens yearning to acquire new and decent accommodation to show wisdom and patience and not to indulge in damaging acts of violence on the city streets to vent their discontent, as he put it.
- He described such reprehensible acts as “irresponsible and unacceptable”.
