“The seized quantities belong to an Algerian importer while concerned services have not decided yet either taking them back to China or seizing them definitively,” Laamari told Echorouk.
-
He said none quantity of the seized baking powder was sold in the market while some bakers claim they have used it after buying it in the black market.
-
Chief of the Bakers’ National Union Youcef Kelfat said traders lodged many complaints about the spoilt baking powders.

Algeria’s market had witnessed a shortage of baking powders, which led to prices increase and speculation in the black market.
