Accredited car concessionaires describe the government’s decision to open the field of cars’ import and not subjecting them to the new book of conditions, in respect of vehicles that are directed to persons, institutions, ministries and public bodies and owners of Taxi companies, a “disaster” and the policy of double standards, through the creation of an indirect way to import cars away from quota and import licenses by businessmen and selling cars on the used car markets.

Former Chairman of the Association of Accredited Car Concessionaires, and Head of Chairman “EVAL” company, Mohammed Bairi, told Echorouk, that the resolution which was signed by the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions is unenforceable and illogical, and wondered about the feasibility of imposing strict laws to prevent the import of cars that are conform to the criteria that is set out in the book of conditions of vehicles, then government will grant import licenses to businessmen to pass cars to the national market, without specifying the company’s quota that will enter the market.
“Cars companies thus, will not be subject to the necessary conditions, arguing that they are directed to individuals and not to private concessionaires, as they will also contribute to the recovery of businessmen’s sales”.
“Concessionaires are angry because they said they are the first victim of this decision. How could Trade Ministry or the Industry Ministry be sure that these vehicles will be directed to the activity and not for sale? Owners of companies, institutions and even some concessionaires will take advantage of the brands for their companies to pass the vehicles that are not conform to the market, and then re-sell them in the used cars’ markets. What are the government’s guarantees so that these cars are not addressed to sale? And how will it act with them in case they’ll decide to re-sell them? This decision is a policy of double standards.”
