Food products under control before forwarding them for consumption

Food products will be subject to the new terms and modes that are applicable in the field of pollutants and toxic substances which are permitted during the manufacturing processes, in order to give them the status of quality and conformity to what is applied in the international markets, and the security and health protection of the consumer and the suppression of fraud.
Quality and Consumption Director at the Trade Ministry, Sami Koli, told Echorouk, on Sunday, that the purpose of the issuance of the Executive Order 366-14 that specifies the conditions and ways that are applicable in the field of contaminants that are allowed in food, which came into force recently, giving products the matching to the quality that is in force in the European market, because the conditions that are specified in the text – ATP – are among the European market requirements.
“The purpose of the inclusion of these terms is the consumer protection firstly from the risk of pollutants and toxic substances that are known, as the pollutants that are accepted by the human body in food were identified, and they take a variety of forms during the impact of pure industrial processes such as farm fresh products, as the decree’s text is imported From global specifications, and thus all those products that are subject to the conditions that are provided by the matching conditions that are internationally applied.”
“Industrialists and importers in the field of food terms would show commitments of this text, by directing those materials to final consumption, otherwise they would be subject to very strict penalties, that are specified in the provisions of Article 5 of Law No. 03-09”.
With regard to those pollutants and toxic substances, which contained food products, he explained; “To ensure the quality of the product it is obvious to use pesticides, and technological products and the remnants of veterinary drugs, bullets, chemical pollutants and heavy metals, to protect them from damage, and on the other hand, there are several ways of work so as those pollutants and toxic substances will not remain in quantities that could harm the health of the consumer, especially if they are used illegally and without warning.”
Decree 366-14 allows the possibility of using the technological aids in the food industry, provided that it does not exceed the maximum of limits for residues of these permitted aid, and the obligation of using these methods that are derived from the Algerian standards and in case of absence, the use of standards in force at the international level should be adopted.
It also prevents food that contains mycotoxins by chemical treatment methods, and to prevent the presence of all the banned substance in food, to prevent the contaminated food storage under treatment with those destined for human consumption directly, or for use as a component of food after treatment.
