Security services of Algiers launched an extensive investigation on the sale of large quantities of fake medication in several pharmacies, that were imported by an unknown company to Algeria from Ivory Coast.
Security services received certain information from the services of mental illness in one of the hospitals, stating that a number of patients who are taking medication for calming nerves are facing an increased degree of stress, and when conducting tests on a sample of these drugs, the laboratory analysis showed that it is not respecting standards and is fake and dangerous because of the increased emotions and hysteria.
Preliminary investigation found that the services of the Ministry of Health, did not mention the entry of eight types of these drugs to the national territory, meaning that they crossed the borders illegally, as unknown cells exploited these famous global brands and counterfeitedthese drugs, in secret factories in the Ivory Coast, as this exceeded to medicines for chronic diseases.
Gendarmes investigators inspected a pharmacy and found the owner taking two packets of various types of drugs, which number exceeds 1600 packets, especially of chronic diseases, from a foreign country, and when he was taking the drugs out, they seized them and continued inspection inside the pharmacy and rear store.
Gendarmes sent samples of the seized drugs to the national institute of the criminal evidence, and the science of criminality at the national gendarmerie in Bouchaoui, Algiers.
