Iraqi Parliament describes Algerian prisoners as “Criminals”
Iraqi Parliament

Iraqi Parliament announced refusal to free the Arab detainees who are accused of implication in terrorism including Algerians.

Iraqi legislative institution exainec that the validity of amnesty does not belong to the power of the presidency or the executive government, but it is the parliament’s power.
Hassoune Al Fatlawi, member of the parliament representing the bloc of national alliance told Moscow news that the power to amnesty for the Arab prisoners accused of terrorism and corruption, including Algerians, is neither the power of the president nor of the executive government, but it is among the parliament’s, and can not be easily decided.
Same agency quoted Al Fatlawi as saying; “parliament should not free a criminal who killed Iraqi civilians. Criminals should be punished with all our respect to the neighbouring ties between Iraqi and Algerian governments, and other countries as well”.
Developments came in light of Algeria’s efforts to grasp an amnesty for the 11 Algerian prisoners in Iraq, as a mission from the foreign ministry moved to the Iraqi capital especially fir this matter, in order to pursue their situation.
Ammar Belani, spokesman of the foreign ministry said previously; “Algerian mission which traveled recently to Iraq, held intensified talks with Iraqi authorities and was able to visit the 11 Algerian prisoners who are detained in Baghdad, Nasiria and Suleimania”.
He asserted that the only aim from this visit is to reach an amnesty for the Algerian prisoners, especially sine nine of them were arrested for entering Iraqi soil illegally.
Opposite to the Iraqi refusal to settle the situation with Algeria, Libya signed an agreement recently for exchanging prisoners, and Algeria is moving to hold another agreement with Saudi Arabia seeking to generalise it fir other countries like Iran and Jordan in order to enable the prisoners continue their prison in their homeland, with except to those accused of terrorism.
