Chedli, “Father of Democracy”, International Media say
Various global and Arab newspapers and websites, shed the light on the death and life of the former Algerian President Chadli Ben Jadid, as they gave an importance to his biography and view his era with its advantages and drawbacks, while international news websites attached the news of his death with videos.
“Arabia.net” quoted in its website the news of the death of the “father of democracy”, as described by Algerians, noting that “he is the first president who opened the window of democracy for the Algerians, after he brought amendments on the country’s constitution, and the transfer from the one-party rule, to the era of political pluralism.”
“Aljazeera.net” highlighted his death under the headline “Former Algerian President Chedli Ben Jedid died of cancer”, the website recited his biography and said; “Chedli’s death came a few weeks before the publication of his memoirs, which are expected to be sold on the markets in the first of the next month, on the 58th anniversary of the Algerian revolution”. For its part, “BBC” in Arabic, stopped on the reign of the late President Chadli Ben Jedid saying; “this period knew his tendency to reduce the state’s intervention in the economy, and loosing its tight security controll on the citizens.”
Egyptian “Al Yaoum Assabie” titled his death under, ” The former Algerian President Chadli Ben Jadid died at 83″, it pointed out that his death coincided with the 24th anniversary of the events of October fifth, 1988.
“France 24” titled; “The former Algerian President Chadli Ben Jedid died after illness”, and recited his era in the country, when Algeria knew important political transformations that transfered the country’s one-party system to multiparty politicy, that enabled Islamists, by the Salvation Front and its leader Abbas Madani, to run for the presidential elections.
“CNN” and “Euronews” spoke about the death of the former Algerian President Chadli Ben Jedid, and the Egyptian “Echorouk” devoted a portion of its pages to announce the news of the death of the Algerian President, and so on for the newspaper “Al Masryoun”, which said that Ben Jedid’s era knew Algeria’s transition to political pluralism after the events of the fifth October 1988.
The Lebanese “LBC” and “Adawlia” websites spoke about the death of Algeria’s former president, and presented his biography.
