President Bouteflika: “Ongoing reforms, evidence of “determination” to fulfil Algerian people's expectations

The President of the Republic Mr Abdelaziz Bouteflika declared Wednesday in Laghouat in southern Algeria that the recently-taken decisions reflect “our determination” to implement the reforms which meet the Algerian people’s ambitions and expectations.

 

 

  • The Head of state Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika pointed out in his keynote speech that the ongoing set of reforms would be carried through after a broad-based dialogue and free-wheeling consultations involving all the political class and civil society members with the aim of consolidating the rule of law, strengthening the state institutions including parliament and promoting a genuine democracy in Algeria.

  • Mr Abdelaziz Bouteflika earlier presided over in Amar Thlidji University in Laghouat, the official launching of the Academic Year 2011-2012 in the presence of government members and a host of university executives.

  • President Abdelaziz Bouteflika also announced in Laghouat (400-km south of Algiers ), the upgrading of eight university centres nationwide to the status of fully-fledged universities. The president made the announcement while chairing the official opening of the academic year 2011-2012.

  • Several socio-economic infrastructural projects were inaugurated or launched Tuesday in the southern province of Laghouat by ministers of several sectors, on the eve of the official opening of the Academic Year 2011-2012 by the Head of state.

  • The development projects span several sectors of activity including higher education, health, education, public works, town planning and environment, Tourism, vocational training, housing, culture and water resources.

  • Furthermore, the province of Laghouat received a complementary development budget amounting to 22,478,000,000 dinars, the Ministry of the Interior and local assemblies announced in a statement Wednesday.

  •  This incentive development program, decided by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, on the occasion of his working visit of inspection to the city covers the sectors of energy and mining, Agriculture, hydraulics, public works, environment, administrative infrastructure and transport.
