British companies want to expand their activity in Algeria, says ambassador
Britain’s ambassador to Algeria Martyn Roper

Britain’s ambassador to Algeria Martyn Roper Tuesday stressed the quality of bilateral relationships between the two countries. “Cooperation includes counter-terrorism efforts, energy, mines, immigration, defence and commerce,” he said.

  • “Britain’s companies want to expand their activity in the Algerian market outside hydrocarbons including education, health, public works, construction, training, consulting, expertise, commerce, chemistry and mechanics,” the ambassador told reporters.
  •
  • “Weak trade exchanges between Britain and Algeria does not reflect the nature of high-quality relationships. The Algerian government encourages more British companies to come, work and invest in Algeria,” he added.
  •
  • The chief of the British delegation and the director of Middle East Association said business climate in Algeria is very motivating for investments. “That encouraged British companies to examine investment opportunities in Algeria.”
  •
  • He added that British businessmen came to Algeria to determine promising economic sectors and establish partnerships.
  •
  • He also said British companies are very interested in the Algerian market not to market their commodities only but to invest as part of a partnership with Algerian operators.
  •
  • “British companies understand the Algerian government’s rules to promote and organise investments,” he added.
