A Pro- Gaddafi Fighter Pleads Court to kill him in Algeria instead of Deportation to Libya

Algiers (11/1/2012) – A Libyan, who said he was a fighter among Gaddafi troops, was brought before the Criminal Court in Sidi M’hamed after being arrested by security services on charges of entering the Algerian soil illegally and without documents.

The Libyan fighter “A.A” in his thirties, said he entered Algeria three months ago escaping the reprisals from NTC fighters, especially as he was working for the former regime, adding that he did not find a way to salvation but to enter Algeria without documents.

“I was fighting with the late leader Muammar Gaddafi, and after he died I threw my weapon and fled to Algeria. I thought that Algeria likes the leader that is why I decided to come here”, he explained.

However; his statements did not convince the prosecutor who asked him about the option of seeking political asylum from the Algerian state instead of illegal immigration, adding that Algeria has the right to refuse or accept his enter to its soil, and even to protect him if necessary.

The prosecutor denounced the illegal immigration adding that this will cost him one year in prison with deportation to his country, while the chair of the session postponed the final decision to the next week.

The last words of the Libyan were influential, as he said “Kill me in Algeria if necessary, but do not deport me to Libya because my fate will be death at the hands of NTC fighters. I want to continue the rest of my life in Algeria”.
