Abdelmadjid Tebboune Discusses Libya Crisis With His Tunisian Counterpart

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune discussed, on Monday, the situation in Libya with his Tunisian counterpart, Kais Saied, and welcomed Tunisia’s proposal to host the Libyan Dialogue Forum early next November, a statement of Tunisia’s Presidency Office said.

“The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, made a phone call today, Monday 12 October 2020, with the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr Abdelmajid Tebboune”, it added.

“During this call, the bilateral relationships between the two countries in general, and the situation in Libya in particular, were discussed. The Algerian president expressed his welcome to the Libyan-Libyan dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations, which will take place at the beginning of next November in Tunis, confirming that Algeria always stands by Tunisia”.

According to the same statement, “The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, affirmed his gratitude for the Algerian position and his appreciation for Algeria’s steadfast stances, asserting that coordination with the Algerian brothers is one of the foundations of Tunisian diplomacy. The two presidents planned the visit that the Algerian President, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will make to Tunisia after the completion of the new Algerian constitution following the referendum that will be held early next November”.
