About 14 million hapless Algerians stripped of butane gas at the threshold of winter

The flabbergasting decision by the Naftal group to cease supplying operators dealing with the filling up of LPG butane gas in specific cylinders of 13kg is liable to prevent around 14 Algerians from this “vital” product at the threshold of the winter season.

  • In a swift reaction, the SG of Algerian Enterprises (CGEA), Mr Hamid Bessayeh, slammed the recent statement made by Naftal’s CEO, Mr Said Akrache, saying that the latter was ostensibly seeking to cover up his firm’s glaring incapacity to supply the country’s rural regions with butane gas.

  • Mr Bessayeh told Echorouk that Naftal’s untoward decision to forcibly strip of their jobs the 14 operators working for several years now in the regular supply of propane gas had affected about 14 million Algerians settled in rural areas of the country.

  • He further stressed the imperious necessity for the relevant authorities to hammer out a solution to this nagging problem as early as possible, warning of possible violent street protests by disgruntled citizens at this unbearable situation notably during the freezing winter season.
