“Withdraw the Bill of Legal Job Or Maintaining The Strike,” Barrister Sellini

Barrister Abdelmadjid Sellini said the lawyers are maintaining their strike and likely to escalate protest until Ministry of Justice withdraws the bill of the legal job.

At the sidelines of the press conference he held on Wednesday in the Algiers Court, Mr Selini said that the turnout of the strike was high, and lawyers have boycotted tribunals pertaining to the competence of Algiers Court.

He further mentioned that the strike decision has been the outcome of the general assembly of the Bar Council, which is represented by 5385 lawyers in Algiers, and 8 trade unions elsewhere in the country.

The Barrister urged to hold an emergency special session to discuss the situation and draw up a unanimous decision on the aforementioned bill on the legal job.

Lawyers have rallied massively in the hall of Algiers Court on Wednesday to protest the bill. They have urged the Ministry of Justice to review the bill by taking into consideration the suggestions they have already submitted.

They said the bill makes the lawyer subjecting more pressures and sanctions which likely to hinder his/her capacities.
