The European Union excluded Western Sahara from the international transport agreement for passengers by bus known as “Interbus”, with Morocco, in another scathing blow to Rabat, as well as to its illegal deal with outgoing US President Donald Trump.

In its memorandum, the European Council affirmed that with regard to the accession of the Kingdom of Morocco to the draft INTERPUS agreement, judicial decisions of the European Court of Justice in cases C-266/16, C-104 / 16P, T-275/18 and T-180/14 must be taken into account. ″.

“This agreement is applicable only to the territories of the internationally recognized Kingdom of Morocco, but it will not include Western Sahara, the non-self-governing region,” the EU specified.
Moroccan media, close to the royal palace, were quick to deny this information, but the European Union website published the contents of the agreement.

The Polisario Front for its part hailed the new decision of the European Union, and stressed that “the statement of the outgoing US President Trump is in the end a” smokescreen “with regard to the Western Sahara after adopting this position, which is based on international and European law.

Abi Bachraya Al-Bachir, the Polisario Front’s representative in Europe and the European Union, said that the Polisario Front considers “the EU decision an important step forward in the light of the current challenges”.

He added that “although bus transport is not considered a strategic issue, the importance of the text stems from its clear support for previous European judicial rulings, after the Council and the Commission always tended to restrict the scope of rulings issued by the European Court”.

He pointed out that “this position translates the European Union’s recognition of the authority of the decisions of the European Court, which means that there is no longer any room for any illegal extension to include Western Sahara,” as quoted by Saharawi News Agency (SPS).

The decision of the Old Continen’s Union is the strongest international response to the malicious “swap deal” between Al-Makhzen and Trump, which was turned down by the UN Security Council a few days ago when discussing the latest developments in the Western Sahara issue.
