Algerian international and defender of the Dutch club RCK Waalwijk, Ahmed Touba, decided to choose the team that he will play for in the senior category by announcing through his Instagram story on Saturday night that he will come to Algeria to be part of a closed training camp with the “Greens”, which means that he chose to play for Algeria, his country of origin, instead of Belgium.
The 22-year-old defender showed good performance in the Dutch league with RCK Waalwijk and was praised by many followers, and he became one of the stars of the competition in general.
The national team coach, Djamel Belmadi, who followed the player this season in his confrontations with his club in the Dutch league, and was very impressed with Touba’s abilities, especially as he is multi-position and has a strong morphological structure.
Ahmed Touba has 3 nationalities, which are French under his birth in France, and Belgian due to the residence of his family there for 20 years, and also Algerian because of his parents’ origins. Accordingly, the player has the opportunity to represent the 3 teams but eventually chose to defend the “Desert Warriors” jersey, after his recent conversation with Djamel Belmadi.
Previously, the player told the Belgian press that he had not yet decided about the team which he would represent in the future, indicating that “it will be his heart’s choice”.
Ahmed Touba played for Belgium’s national teams for the youth groups, but he can change his football nationality from Belgian to Algerian, given that he has never played on any occasion with the first team of the “Red Devils”.
