Ahmed Touba To Join Algeria’s National Football Team
Defender of the Dutch football club RKC Waalwijk, Ahmed Touba, moved in the past few days to the Algerian consulate in Belgium to obtain an Algerian passport to officially join the Algerian Greens after he was convinced of the project presented to him by the national coach, Djamel Belmadi, press sources said.
Social media circulated a picture of the young player with the Algerian consul in Belgium, referring to obtaining his official documents as an Algerian player and if the documents are completed, Ahmed Touba will be one of the Algerian international players who joined the Algerian national team, for the first time in his career.
Ahmed Touba, 22, possesses the Belgian nationality, and he previously represented the “Red Devils” in all the youth groups except for the first team, and his objective was to join him. It is mentioned that Touba appeared remarkably this week, by scoring a wonderful goal that led his team to victory over FC Emmen with a score of 1/0 in the 22nd round of the Dutch league.
Djamel Belmadi found a suitable replacement for Djamel Benlamri, French OLyon defender, in the Belgium national team.
Benlamri suffers from the lack of participation with the French team OL since moving to its ranks during the last summer transfers in a free transfer deal, after the termination of his contract with the Saudi club Al-Shabab.
The rare appearance of Benlamri kept him away from representing the Algerian national team in the recent period, which is expected to happen in the training camp that will be held during the coming March to face both Zambia and Botswana in the AFCON qualifiers 2021 in Cameroon.
